Metal-catalyzed asymmetric synthesis is a core technology in the development of chiral drugs, and the purity of the solvent directly determines the stereoselectivity of the reaction. Research into metal-catalysed asymmetric synthesis has long been hampered by solvent impurities: chiral impurities and trace amounts of water and oxygen in conventional solvents reduce the stereoselectivity of the reaction, resulting in insufficient ee values for the products. Consequently, the development of many chiral drugs and fragrance intermediates has been stalled due to solvent-related issues, creating a bottleneck that hinders the translation of research findings into practical applications.
To address this challenge, the institute has introduced a solvent purification system from Beijing Yifeng Technology Co., Ltd. This system employs optimised deep purification processes tailored for both chiral and achiral solvents, capable of thoroughly removing chiral impurities and trace amounts of water and oxygen from the solvents. It controls impurity levels to extremely low levels, ensuring that solvent purity meets the stringent requirements of metal-catalyzed asymmetric synthesis. The system employs high-precision adsorption and filtration technologies to accurately remove trace impurities, whilst enabling automated solvent dispensing, which significantly enhances experimental efficiency and reduces errors caused by manual operations.
Since its introduction, the Yifeng Solvent Purification System has become a core pillar of research into metal-catalyzed asymmetric synthesis. The purified solvents have led to a significant improvement in the ee values of asymmetric catalytic reactions and a substantial optimisation of product stereoselectivity, completely resolving issues such as insufficient stereoselectivity previously caused by impurities. Researchers have been able to focus on optimising catalytic systems and synthesising chiral products, successfully developing a range of chiral drugs and fragrance intermediates with high ee values, thereby providing vital support for the development of the chiral pharmaceutical industry.
