Research into radical chemistry is a key branch of organic synthesis, and the purity of the solvent directly determines the controllability of radical reactions. In radical chemistry research, researchers have long been troubled by impurities in solvents: Trace amounts of peroxides present in conventional solvents can trigger side reactions, leading to the deactivation of radical intermediates and compromising reaction control. Consequently, research into many novel radical reactions and organic synthetic methodologies has been hindered by solvent-related issues, creating a bottleneck that has constrained breakthroughs in this field.To address this challenge, the School has introduced a solvent purification system from Beijing Yifeng Technology Co., Ltd. Equipped with a dedicated peroxide-removal column, the system efficiently purifies easily oxidised solvents such as tetrahydrofuran and diethyl ether, thoroughly eliminating peroxides to ensure stable and reliable solvent purity, thereby guaranteeing the controllability of radical reactions. Operating in an automated mode, the system monitors solvent purity in real time and promptly replaces adsorbent materials, ensuring consistently stable purification results whilst significantly reducing the workload associated with manual operations.
The introduction of the Yifeng Solvent Purification System has fundamentally transformed the research landscape within the laboratory. Purified solvents have significantly enhanced the controllability of radical reactions, substantially reduced side reactions, and fully preserved the reactivity of radical intermediates. Issues previously caused by peroxides, such as runaway reactions and the deactivation of intermediates, have been successfully resolved. Researchers are now able to focus on exploring novel radical reactions and innovating organic synthesis methodologies, leading to the successful production of numerous cutting-edge research outcomes and injecting new vitality into the development of the organic synthesis field.
