The research and development of specialised polymer materials serves as a vital pillar for high-end manufacturing and the defence sector, whilst the purity of solvents directly determines the materials’ core properties, such as high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance. In the development of specialised polymer materials (such as polyimides and polyaryletherketones), researchers have long been plagued by issues arising from impurities in solvents: Moisture, metal ions and organic residues in traditional solvents can lead to uneven cross-linking of polymer chains, resulting in reduced thermal stability and mechanical properties of the materials. This renders them unable to meet the stringent requirements of sectors such as aerospace and high-end equipment. Consequently, the development of many specialised materials has reached a bottleneck due to solvent-related issues, becoming a critical obstacle hindering research breakthroughs.
To resolve this dilemma, the School has introduced a solvent purification system from Beijing Yifeng Technology Co., Ltd. This system is specifically designed for high-boiling-point solvents commonly used in the synthesis of special polymers, such as NMP and DMAC. It features an optimised deep-removal process capable of thoroughly eliminating water, metal ions and organic residues from the solvents, ensuring that solvent purity is maintained at an extremely high and stable level to meet the demands of special polymer synthesis. The system features a corrosion-resistant and high-temperature-resistant design, enabling it to withstand the harsh reaction environments of specialised polymer synthesis. It also facilitates automated continuous liquid supply and solvent recycling, significantly enhancing experimental efficiency and reducing R&D costs.
Since its commissioning, the Yifeng solvent purification system has become a cornerstone of specialised polymer material R&D. The purified solvents enable more orderly polymer chain growth, raising the material’s thermal decomposition temperature by over 30°C and significantly optimising mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. Issues with substandard material performance previously caused by impurities have been thoroughly resolved. Researchers are now able to focus on optimising material structures and refining synthesis processes, successfully developing multiple high-performance speciality polymer materials for application in aerospace, high-end equipment and other sectors, thereby providing vital support for the development of the nation’s high-end manufacturing industry. Yifeng Technology empowers the research and development of speciality materials through technology, enabling scientific achievements to better serve national strategic needs and helping universities remain at the forefront of exploration in the field of speciality polymers.
