The research and development of perovskite solar cells represents a significant endeavour in the field of new energy materials, and solvent purity is the key factor determining the success or failure of this endeavour. Throughout the iterative development of perovskite solar cells, we have gained a profound understanding of the challenges posed by solvent impurities: In core solvents such as tetrahydrofuran and chlorobenzene, even trace amounts of moisture and oxygen can disrupt the ordered structure of perovskite crystals, leading to a significant drop in the photovoltaic conversion efficiency of the cells and making it difficult to improve yield rates. This not only increases R&D costs but also delays the industrialisation of high-efficiency, stable perovskite cells, becoming an insurmountable bottleneck in the research and development process.
Beijing Yifeng Technology Co., Ltd.’s solvent purification system has empowered the institute’s R&D efforts by breaking through these challenges with its precise purification technology. Tailored to the stringent purity requirements of perovskite solar cell research, the system optimises multi-stage filtration and deep adsorption processes to enable continuous online purification of various core solvents. It consistently maintains water and oxygen content below the ppm level, ensuring that every drop of solvent meets experimental standards. Compared to traditional purification methods, the Yifeng system eliminates the need for frequent replacement of adsorbent materials and boosts purification efficiency by more than threefold, thoroughly resolving the issues of unstable purity and the time-consuming, labour-intensive nature of conventional processes.
Since its installation in the laboratory, the Yifeng solvent purification system has become the ‘invisible guardian’ of perovskite solar cell research and development. The purified solvents enable more uniform perovskite crystal growth and a more regular crystal structure, resulting in a yield rate for cell fabrication that is over 40% higher than before. Photovoltaic conversion efficiency data is now more precise and reliable, providing researchers with a solid experimental foundation for optimising cell structure and enhancing performance. The purity issues that had long plagued the team have been resolved, and the R&D cycle has been significantly shortened. This has smoothed the path towards the industrialisation of high-efficiency perovskite solar cells and injected sustained momentum into innovation and development in the field of new energy materials, allowing the future of clean energy to shine even more brilliantly, nourished by pure solvents.
